नौकरी के बारे में

Help us use technology to make a big green dent in the universe! Kraken powers some of the most innovative global developments in energy. We create the technology that redefines utilities and unlocks a new energy system of the future. By optimising renewable generation, building a more intelligent grid, and empowering utilities to deliver an exceptional customer experience, our operating system is transforming the industry worldwide. It’s an incredibly exciting time to work in energy. Join us on our mission to improve the lives of ONE BILLION humans within the decade and shape a cleaner, better future for everyone. Please submit your application in English 🐙 Kraken Generation Flex The energy industry is undergoing the largest transformation since industrialisation, at an unprecedented rate of change and we are positioning ourselves at the heart of it. In Germany, home to the largest electricity market in Europe and a roadmap toward Net Zero by 2045, we are scaling rapidly to integrate Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) into the grid. Kraken is recognised as a thought leader and innovator. We are building a SaaS business that digitally connects hundreds of thousands of DERs with energy markets. As we expand our footprint in Germany and the wider European market, we are looking for an Electrical Engineer to help turn customer sites into market-connected, controllable assets. 🏠 Where you’ll fit in and role summary As we enter a stage of rapid commercialisation and customer growth in Germany, we are looking for an Electrical Engineer to support the delivery of our site integrations and grow into owning them, learning the full lifecycle from the early information stage through design, deployment and testing. You’ll work closely with our engineering team based in Manchester as we look to expand our engineering and operations in Germany and across Europe. Together, the team takes an integration project from the very early information stage, designs how it will be integrated into Kraken’s platform and then turns that design into a live, controllable, market-participating asset. The Gateway (Kraken’s IoT Edge Hardware & Software) and other connectivity technologies with their protocol engineering are owned by our UK-based team, who will support you in becoming configuration literate. Over time you will carry out configuration, deployments and testing for sites yourself, and feed back what you learn about hardware, connectivity and grid operator requirements for European countries so the wider team can build on it. Engineering delivery is an innovative and engineering-focused team with a culture that fosters collaboration and fresh thinking to create a new energy system. Alongside design, deployment and testing, they constantly look into ways to improve efficiency through tooling and the automation of repetitive tasks. They collaborate daily with delivery managers and customer success to onboard new sites as well as support the existing ones. 🚀 What you'll own Integration design contribution: With guidance, analyse provided information and contribute to hardware and software integration approaches for German sites, mainly BESS (grid-scale and C&I) and RES (Wind and Solar). When necessary, exchange information with customer technical representatives in German and English through meetings and emails, and take part in design discussions with other team members. Market access & prequalification support: Support the technical work needed for assets to enter ancillary-service markets (FCR, aFRR, mFRR) and to meet Redispatch 3.0 requirements. With guidance from senior engineers, help prepare the telemetry and control evidence for prequalification (Präqualifikation) with the relevant TSO. (Grid-code and plant-compliance obligations such as VDE-AR-N 4110/4120 remain with the plant/PPC; our focus is enabling market access, telemetry and dispatch.) Technical judgement: Develop your technical judgement, making well-reasoned decisions and trade-offs with support from senior engineers, and contributing technical input to discussions within the team. Developing domain knowledge: Build up your knowledge in one or more technical areas. This could include German grid connection rules and TSO-specific requirements, ancillary services, Redispatch 3.0, industrial communication protocols, industrial networking, internet of things, cyber security and so on. Gateway application & configuration: Learn how the Gateway software (developed by an internal software team) works and how it is configured. Understand the requirements for an integration and judge if the Gateway software is able to support it or will need new development work. The team will help you get Gateway configuration literate and you will carry out deployments and changes independently over time. Hardware and software deployments: Learn the process of our hardware and software deployments. Over time, take ownership of the configuration, deployment and testing of sites with guidance from the senior engineers. Networking and cyber security: Contribute to hardware and network connectivity designs, keeping our own cyber security posture in mind as well as addressing the concerns from customers, with the support of the internal security team. Hardware handling & dispatch: Berlin is planned as our stock base for our hardware going out to sites across Europe, so the role includes some hands-on work. This covers preparing units before they ship, such as flashing and configuring our industrial PCs and running pre-shipment tests, and helping to prepare and coordinate shipments. Site testing & commissioning: Carry out site testing and commissioning, initially with the support of the team and building toward doing this independently as onboarding demand in Germany and other parts of Europe grows. Hardware is deployed remotely in most cases via O&Ms and third parties, but occasional hands-on support in Germany may be needed before or after a deployment. Incidents & s
